| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Harmony Public Schools on the occasion of the |

| 4 | 4 | | organization's 20th anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The first Harmony Science Academy was established |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | in Houston in 2000, and there are now 58 Harmony Public Schools |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | campuses in cities across the state; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Harmony high schools are recognized by U.S. News |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and World Report as among the best in the nation, and each of the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | organization's 23 high schools in Texas was named to the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | magazine's Top High Schools in America list; students in Harmony |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | schools have received more than 2,000 awards in local, national, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and international science fairs; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Association of School Business |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Officials bestowed its highest honor for financial |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | responsibility, the Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations, to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Harmony Public Schools; the Texas Education Agency awarded a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | superior financial accountability rating to each of Harmony's |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | seven districts in the state and selected five Harmony districts |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | to be recipients of the new Teacher Incentive Allotment; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, For 20 years, Harmony Public Schools has had a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | positive impact on the lives of Texas students, and it is truly |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | fitting that this outstanding organization receive special |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | recognition as it reaches this milestone in its history; now, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend the students, faculty, staff, and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | administrators of Harmony Public Schools on their exemplary |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | efforts on behalf of the young people of Texas and extend to all |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | best wishes for a rewarding 20th anniversary celebration; and, be |
