| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Webb County Specialty Drug Courts for helping to |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | restore the lives of families in the community; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Drug treatment courts serve as a cornerstone for |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the justice reform currently sweeping the nation; the specialty |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | courts are recognized for being highly successful systems of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | justice, as they significantly reduce crime and improve outcomes |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | for those with substance abuse disorders; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, More than 1.5 million individuals have been |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | served through the nation's network of nearly 4,000 treatment |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | courts; Webb County is host to three of those courts, the DWI |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Court Program, the Drug Court Program, and the Veterans Treatment |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Court Program; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, These specialty courts have notably reduced the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | rates of addiction and addiction-related crimes and have |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | improved individual outcomes in areas that include education, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | employment, housing, and financial stability; the programs have |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | also promoted family reunification and have led to an increase in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the number of babies born drug-free; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Drug treatment courts help to facilitate |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | community partnerships that bring together professionals in both |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | public safety and public health to the benefit of individuals, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | families, and the greater community; all who have contributed to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the success of the Webb County Specialty Drug Courts are indeed |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend the staff and partners of the Webb |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | County Specialty Drug Courts for their valuable service to |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | citizens and extend to them best wishes for continued success; |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and, be it further |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
