6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Dr. Katherine Lindley Spaht Dodson, who |

7 | 7 | | died tragically at the age of 43 on January 26, 2021; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A caring, brilliant, and gifted individual, |
---|
9 | 9 | | Lindley Dodson was a highly esteemed citizen and physician, and |
---|
10 | 10 | | she inspired her many friends, colleagues, and loved ones through |
---|
11 | 11 | | her joyful spirit, her easy laughter, and her selfless example; |
---|
12 | 12 | | and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Born on June 30, 1977, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, |
---|
14 | 14 | | Lindley Spaht earned her diploma from the Episcopal High School |
---|
15 | 15 | | of Baton Rouge in 1995; she went on to graduate magna cum laude |
---|
16 | 16 | | from Washington and Lee University, where she met her future |
---|
17 | 17 | | husband, Frederick Drew Dodson; she attended medical school at |
---|
18 | 18 | | Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and |
---|
19 | 19 | | completed her residency in pediatrics at Vanderbilt Children's |
---|
20 | 20 | | Hospital; she later served as an urgent care physician at Boston |
---|
21 | 21 | | Children's Hospital and as an instructor at Harvard Medical |
---|
22 | 22 | | School; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Lindley married Drew Dodson in 2006, and they |
---|
24 | 24 | | moved to Austin the following year; she joined the staff at Dell |
---|
25 | 25 | | Children's Medical Center as a pediatric hospitalist and served |
---|
26 | 26 | | as a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at Dell |
---|
27 | 27 | | Medical School; she was twice honored as the Pediatric Faculty |
---|
28 | 28 | | Member of the Year during her 10 years of outstanding service; |
---|

---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, She established her practice at Children's |
---|
31 | 31 | | Medical Group in 2017, and she proudly became an owner of the |
---|
32 | 32 | | organization in 2020; she served as a trusted pediatrician to |
---|
33 | 33 | | countless Austin families and was a much-valued mentor to the |
---|
34 | 34 | | Austin medical community; she was a passionate advocate for |
---|
35 | 35 | | children and a model of professional excellence, and she was |
---|
36 | 36 | | treasured by her patients and their parents for the special |
---|
37 | 37 | | attention and care she gave to each; and |
---|
38 | 38 | | WHEREAS, In her personal life, Lindley delighted in |
---|
39 | 39 | | attending festivals and was a lifelong Louisiana State |
---|
40 | 40 | | University fan; she was a source of strength and joy to her family |
---|
41 | 41 | | and friends, and she cherished spending time with her beloved |
---|
42 | 42 | | husband and their three beautiful children, Shaw, Tucker, and |
---|
43 | 43 | | Loretta; and |
---|
44 | 44 | | WHEREAS, Lindley Dodson was a shining light of warmth and |
---|
45 | 45 | | compassion to the many who were blessed to know her, and she |
---|
46 | 46 | | will long be remembered with profound respect and admiration |
---|
47 | 47 | | by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, |
---|
48 | 48 | | therefore, be it |
---|
49 | 49 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
---|
50 | 50 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
51 | 51 | | family of Dr. Katherine Lindley Spaht Dodson; and, be it further |
---|
52 | 52 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
53 | 53 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
54 | 54 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
---|
55 | 55 | | memory of Lindley Dodson. |
