55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the life of Dr. Katherine Lindley Spaht Dodson, who
77 died tragically at the age of 43 on January 26, 2021; and
88 WHEREAS, A caring, brilliant, and gifted individual,
99 Lindley Dodson was a highly esteemed citizen and physician, and
1010 she inspired her many friends, colleagues, and loved ones through
1111 her joyful spirit, her easy laughter, and her selfless example;
1212 and
1313 WHEREAS, Born on June 30, 1977, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana,
1414 Lindley Spaht earned her diploma from the Episcopal High School
1515 of Baton Rouge in 1995; she went on to graduate magna cum laude
1616 from Washington and Lee University, where she met her future
1717 husband, Frederick Drew Dodson; she attended medical school at
1818 Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and
1919 completed her residency in pediatrics at Vanderbilt Children's
2020 Hospital; she later served as an urgent care physician at Boston
2121 Children's Hospital and as an instructor at Harvard Medical
2222 School; and
2323 WHEREAS, Lindley married Drew Dodson in 2006, and they
2424 moved to Austin the following year; she joined the staff at Dell
2525 Children's Medical Center as a pediatric hospitalist and served
2626 as a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at Dell
2727 Medical School; she was twice honored as the Pediatric Faculty
2828 Member of the Year during her 10 years of outstanding service;
2929 and
3030 WHEREAS, She established her practice at Children's
3131 Medical Group in 2017, and she proudly became an owner of the
3232 organization in 2020; she served as a trusted pediatrician to
3333 countless Austin families and was a much-valued mentor to the
3434 Austin medical community; she was a passionate advocate for
3535 children and a model of professional excellence, and she was
3636 treasured by her patients and their parents for the special
3737 attention and care she gave to each; and
3838 WHEREAS, In her personal life, Lindley delighted in
3939 attending festivals and was a lifelong Louisiana State
4040 University fan; she was a source of strength and joy to her family
4141 and friends, and she cherished spending time with her beloved
4242 husband and their three beautiful children, Shaw, Tucker, and
4343 Loretta; and
4444 WHEREAS, Lindley Dodson was a shining light of warmth and
4545 compassion to the many who were blessed to know her, and she
4646 will long be remembered with profound respect and admiration
4747 by all who were privileged to share in her life; now,
4848 therefore, be it
4949 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
5050 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
5151 family of Dr. Katherine Lindley Spaht Dodson; and, be it further
5252 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
5353 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
5454 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
5555 memory of Lindley Dodson.
