| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Danny Paul Strickland of Longview passed away on |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | January 18, 2021, at the age of 73, leaving his loved ones with a |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | wealth of memories to cherish; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Longview on March 11, 1947, Danny |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Strickland was the son of Ben and Tommie Strickland; he graduated |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | from Gladewater High School in 1965, and he would go on to remain |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | close to many of the friends he made in his youth; during the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Vietnam War, he served his country as a member of the United |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | States Army, where he attained the rank of staff sergeant and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | earned a Bronze Star; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, After returning home, Mr. Strickland attended |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | college at Stephen F. Austin State University through the G.I. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Bill and received a degree in education; however, he taught at |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the Arp school district for only three days before changing |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | careers, and he went on to work in the oil and gas and heavy |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | equipment industries until his eventual retirement from Darr |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Equipment Co.; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Strickland met his future wife, Charla Rolph, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | on a blind date in 1997; their relationship was a source of much |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | happiness to him, and he enjoyed spending his retirement years with |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | her at his side; he cherished his daughters, Mandy and Erin, taking |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | great pride in their accomplishments, and he was further blessed |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | with four grandchildren, Lauren, Kate, Noble, and Pike; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, A loving family man and a true and loyal friend, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Danny Strickland will forever be remembered with deep affection |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | by all those who shared in the richness of his life; now, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | therefore, be it |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |

| 33 | 33 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Danny Paul |
