                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 71
 WHEREAS, A 70th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
 mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Horace and Dorothy
 Flournoy of Whitehouse celebrated this joyous milestone in their
 marriage on December 16, 2020; and
 WHEREAS, Horace Flournoy and the former Dorothy Mae Hale
 first met at New Bethel Church in Flint in 1950, and they soon
 fell in love and exchanged the vows of matrimony later that year;
 over the decades, they have been blessed with a treasured family
 that includes their children, Cynthia, Althea, Horace, and
 Dorothea, as well as their grandchildren and
 great-grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Respected members of the Whitehouse community, the
 couple previously lived in Chicago for a number of years;
 Mr. Flournoy retired from a career with the Chicago Transit
 Authority in 1987, and Mrs. Flournoy retired from a career with
 Chicago Public Schools; since returning to Texas, Mr. Flournoy has
 served as a deacon at New Canaan Baptist Church in Whitehouse;
 Mrs. Flournoy attends First Baptist Church Tyler and is a founding
 board member of the Christian Women's Job Corps; and
 WHEREAS, The seven decades of marriage that Mr. and
 Mrs. Flournoy have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning
 of love and commitment, and their enduring union is an
 inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
 Legislature, hereby congratulate Horace and Dorothy Flournoy on
 their 70th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best
 wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
 prepared for the couple as an expression of high regard from the
 Texas Senate.
