| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Eddie Garner Clement, an esteemed member of the |

| 6 | 6 | | Paris, Texas, community and a friend to many, passed away on |

| 7 | 7 | | January 19, 2021, at the age of 55; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Ted Garner Clement and Carol Ann |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Clement, Eddie Clement was born on August 7, 1965, in Dallas and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | grew up in Duncanville with a sister, Eva; he completed his |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | bachelor of business administration degree in management at The |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | University of Texas at Arlington, where he made lasting |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | friendships as a member of Phi Delta Theta and discovered his |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | love of music and entertainment; through the years, he delighted |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | in acting as DJ for any event and always knew exactly what to play |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | to make everyone happy; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Clement embarked on a career with the Sonic |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Drive-In chain, and he was a member of the board of Lamar National |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Bank; giving generously of his time and expertise, he also served |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | on the boards of numerous civic organizations, among them Denver |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Pyle's Children's Charities, the Lamar County Chamber of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Commerce, the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the Boys & Girls Club of Paris, which included him on its Wall of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Honor; he was a valued congregant of Our Lady of Victory Catholic |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Church and a third-degree knight in the Knights of Columbus; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Clement shared a |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | fulfilling marriage of 26 years with his wife, Monica Homer |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Clement, and he was the proud father of three children, Avery, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Mollie, and Adam; in his free time, he liked a good round of golf, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | but above all, he enjoyed helping others in any way he could; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Eddie Clement lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | and although he is deeply missed by those he left behind, they |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | will forever cherish their memories of his warmth and kindness; |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Eddie Garner |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Clement and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | passing; and, be it further |

| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |

| 40 | 40 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
