11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 73
22 WHEREAS, After nearly three decades of exemplary service
33 in law enforcement, Tim Scott retired as chief of the Big Sandy
44 Police Department on December 31, 2020; and
55 WHEREAS, Tim Scott began his 18-year tenure with the Big
66 Sandy Police Department as a night patrolman; sworn in as the
77 chief of police in 2006, he was responsible for a number of
88 important developments through the years, including overhauling
99 the agency's operations and policies and implementing the use of
1010 body cameras; moreover, he kept the department up-to-date by
1111 establishing a fleet lease program and by securing more than
1212 $150,000 in grants for officer training and equipment; he retired
1313 as the longest-serving chief in department history; and
1414 WHEREAS, Greatly admired by his colleagues for his skilled
1515 leadership, professionalism, and commitment to excellence, Chief
1616 Scott may indeed take great pride in all that he has done to
1717 protect and serve his fellow Texans as he embarks on the next
1818 exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
1919 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
2020 Legislature, hereby congratulate Tim Scott on his retirement as
2121 chief of the Big Sandy Police Department and extend to him
2222 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
2323 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
2424 prepared for Chief Scott as an expression of high regard from the
2525 Texas Senate.
