5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close |
---|
6 | 6 | | with the passing of Noble Grace Cammack of Longview on January |

7 | 7 | | 11, 2021, at the age of 99; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Claude and Sadie Cammack, Noble Cammack |
---|
9 | 9 | | was born in Brookeland in Sabine County on January 14, 1921; he |
---|
10 | 10 | | grew up with four siblings, Stella, Price, Joe Bill, and Jimmie, |
---|
11 | 11 | | near land granted to his maternal ancestors by the Republic of |
---|
12 | 12 | | Texas almost a century before; during World War II, he served his |
---|
13 | 13 | | country in the U.S. Navy; he graduated from Kilgore College and |
---|
14 | 14 | | moved to Longview to help his mother with her restaurant and |
---|
15 | 15 | | boarding house; after a few years of employment with Eastman |
---|
16 | 16 | | Kodak, he embarked on a 33-year career in accounting with Lone |
---|
17 | 17 | | Star Steel Company in 1950; his retirement did not last, as he |
---|
18 | 18 | | then took a new job in the City of Longview's purchasing |
---|
19 | 19 | | department; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Cammack married the love of his life, the |
---|
21 | 21 | | former Juanita Gossett, on April 8, 1950; they were blessed with |
---|
22 | 22 | | four children, Kerry, Bruce, Stephen, and Teresa; later, he became |
---|
23 | 23 | | "Bobo" to 13 treasured grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Alan, |
---|
24 | 24 | | Stuart, Alex, Cole, Blake, Brittney, Kendall, Casey, Matthew, |
---|
25 | 25 | | Jonathan, Brandon, Carolina, and Hailey, as well as 14 |
---|
26 | 26 | | great-grandchildren; he served as a deacon and elder of First |
---|
27 | 27 | | Christian Church, and he and his wife were faithful members of the |
---|
28 | 28 | | Cornerstone Sunday School class; in addition, he volunteered for |
---|
29 | 29 | | Meals on Wheels; he enjoyed gardening and traveling with his wife, |
---|
30 | 30 | | and they shared a fulfilling marriage of more than six decades |
---|
31 | 31 | | until her passing; in his last years, he treasured many friendships |
---|
32 | 32 | | with fellow residents of Buckner Westminster Place; the most |
---|
33 | 33 | | gracious of gentlemen, he always had a kind word for others, and he |
---|
34 | 34 | | offered his signature white handkerchief to anyone who might need |
---|
35 | 35 | | it; he continued to proudly stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and |
---|
36 | 36 | | the National Anthem, even when relying on a walker; and |
---|
37 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Although Noble Cammack is greatly missed by those |
---|
38 | 38 | | he left behind, they will forever cherish their memories of his |
---|
39 | 39 | | thoughtful, courteous ways and deep integrity; now, therefore, |
---|
40 | 40 | | be it |
---|
41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
---|
42 | 42 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Noble Grace |
---|
43 | 43 | | Cammack and extend sincere condolences to his family and friends; |
---|
44 | 44 | | and, be it further |
---|
45 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
---|
46 | 46 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
---|
47 | 47 | | this day, it do so in memory of Noble Grace Cammack. |
