44 Noble Grace Cammack
55 WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close
66 with the passing of Noble Grace Cammack of Longview on January
77 11, 2021, at the age of 99; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Claude and Sadie Cammack, Noble Cammack
99 was born in Brookeland in Sabine County on January 14, 1921; he
1010 grew up with four siblings, Stella, Price, Joe Bill, and Jimmie,
1111 near land granted to his maternal ancestors by the Republic of
1212 Texas almost a century before; during World War II, he served his
1313 country in the U.S. Navy; he graduated from Kilgore College and
1414 moved to Longview to help his mother with her restaurant and
1515 boarding house; after a few years of employment with Eastman
1616 Kodak, he embarked on a 33-year career in accounting with Lone
1717 Star Steel Company in 1950; his retirement did not last, as he
1818 then took a new job in the City of Longview's purchasing
1919 department; and
2020 WHEREAS, Mr. Cammack married the love of his life, the
2121 former Juanita Gossett, on April 8, 1950; they were blessed with
2222 four children, Kerry, Bruce, Stephen, and Teresa; later, he became
2323 "Bobo" to 13 treasured grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Alan,
2424 Stuart, Alex, Cole, Blake, Brittney, Kendall, Casey, Matthew,
2525 Jonathan, Brandon, Carolina, and Hailey, as well as 14
2626 great-grandchildren; he served as a deacon and elder of First
2727 Christian Church, and he and his wife were faithful members of the
2828 Cornerstone Sunday School class; in addition, he volunteered for
2929 Meals on Wheels; he enjoyed gardening and traveling with his wife,
3030 and they shared a fulfilling marriage of more than six decades
3131 until her passing; in his last years, he treasured many friendships
3232 with fellow residents of Buckner Westminster Place; the most
3333 gracious of gentlemen, he always had a kind word for others, and he
3434 offered his signature white handkerchief to anyone who might need
3535 it; he continued to proudly stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and
3636 the National Anthem, even when relying on a walker; and
3737 WHEREAS, Although Noble Cammack is greatly missed by those
3838 he left behind, they will forever cherish their memories of his
3939 thoughtful, courteous ways and deep integrity; now, therefore,
4040 be it
4141 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
4242 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Noble Grace
4343 Cammack and extend sincere condolences to his family and friends;
4444 and, be it further
4545 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4646 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
4747 this day, it do so in memory of Noble Grace Cammack.
