11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 84
22 WHEREAS, In conjunction with the annual observance of
33 National FFA Week, members, advisors, and guests of the Texas FFA
44 Association are gathering in Austin from February 21 to 26, 2021,
55 to celebrate Texas FFA Week at the State Capitol; and
66 WHEREAS, For the past century, the Texas FFA has helped
77 youth develop knowledge and skills in industries related to
88 agriculture, food, and natural resources; the FFA program is
99 integral to a three-part educational model that also encompasses
1010 classroom instruction and work-based learning through supervised
1111 agricultural experiences, which may include such activities as
1212 starting a business, conducting scientific research, or working
1313 in production for an established company; and
1414 WHEREAS, This noteworthy organization fosters good
1515 citizenship and strong leadership in Texas schools, and over the
1616 course of its long history, it has produced many outstanding
1717 community, state, and national leaders of industry, education,
1818 and government, including many members who have served in this
1919 chamber; and
2020 WHEREAS, The largest FFA affiliate in the country, the
2121 Texas association has more than 137,000 members and is guided by
2222 elected officers who each represent one of the state's 12 FFA
2323 areas; those individuals are Blake Mills, president of Area VII,
2424 Emilee Sanderson, first vice president of Area II, Faith Snapp of
2525 Area I, Annie Valicek of Area III, Kirby Russell of Area IV,
2626 Caitlyn Muckensturm of Area V, Bella Yoder of Area VI, Amy Wallen
2727 of Area VIII, Carson Davis of Area IX, Alexa Salinas of Area X,
2828 Ryan Williamson of Area XI, and Rachel Bradford of Area XII;
2929 every year, the organization awards more than $1 million in
3030 scholarships to deserving members who have demonstrated academic
3131 excellence, career readiness, and preparation for effective
3232 civic engagement; and
3333 WHEREAS, The Texas FFA Association contributes
3434 immeasurably to the success of agricultural, career, and
3535 technical education, and in so doing, it has greatly enhanced the
3636 prosperity of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
3737 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
3838 Legislature, hereby recognize February 21 to 26, 2021, as Texas
3939 FFA Week at the State Capitol and extend to all those
4040 participating sincere best wishes for an informative and
4141 enjoyable event; and, be it further
4242 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4343 prepared for the Texas FFA Association as an expression of high
4444 regard from the Texas Senate.
