1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 84
2	2	WHEREAS, In conjunction with the annual observance of
3	3	National FFA Week, members, advisors, and guests of the Texas FFA
4	4	Association are gathering in Austin from February 21 to 26, 2021,
5	5	to celebrate Texas FFA Week at the State Capitol; and
6	6	WHEREAS, For the past century, the Texas FFA has helped
7	7	youth develop knowledge and skills in industries related to
8	8	agriculture, food, and natural resources; the FFA program is
9	9	integral to a three-part educational model that also encompasses
10	10	classroom instruction and work-based learning through supervised
11	11	agricultural experiences, which may include such activities as
12	12	starting a business, conducting scientific research, or working
13	13	in production for an established company; and
14	14	WHEREAS, This noteworthy organization fosters good
15	15	citizenship and strong leadership in Texas schools, and over the
16	16	course of its long history, it has produced many outstanding
17	17	community, state, and national leaders of industry, education,
18	18	and government, including many members who have served in this
19	19	chamber; and
20	20	WHEREAS, The largest FFA affiliate in the country, the
21	21	Texas association has more than 137,000 members and is guided by
22	22	elected officers who each represent one of the state's 12 FFA
23	23	areas; those individuals are Blake Mills, president of Area VII,
24	24	Emilee Sanderson, first vice president of Area II, Faith Snapp of
25	25	Area I, Annie Valicek of Area III, Kirby Russell of Area IV,
26	26	Caitlyn Muckensturm of Area V, Bella Yoder of Area VI, Amy Wallen
27	27	of Area VIII, Carson Davis of Area IX, Alexa Salinas of Area X,
28	28	Ryan Williamson of Area XI, and Rachel Bradford of Area XII;
29	29	every year, the organization awards more than $1 million in
30	30	scholarships to deserving members who have demonstrated academic
31	31	excellence, career readiness, and preparation for effective
32	32	civic engagement; and
33	33	WHEREAS, The Texas FFA Association contributes
34	34	immeasurably to the success of agricultural, career, and
35	35	technical education, and in so doing, it has greatly enhanced the
36	36	prosperity of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
37	37	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
38	38	Legislature, hereby recognize February 21 to 26, 2021, as Texas
39	39	FFA Week at the State Capitol and extend to all those
40	40	participating sincere best wishes for an informative and
41	41	enjoyable event; and, be it further
42	42	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
43	43	prepared for the Texas FFA Association as an expression of high
44	44	regard from the Texas Senate.
