1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 86
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize Tarrant County and to join its citizens in celebration
4	4	of Tarrant County Days at the State Capitol on February 23 and 24,
5	5	2021; and
6	6	WHEREAS, Established in 1849, Tarrant County was named for
7	7	General Edward H. Tarrant of the Republic of Texas Militia; its
8	8	county seat is Fort Worth, and it is one of 26 counties formed
9	9	from the original Peters Colony; and
10	10	WHEREAS, Residents of Tarrant County have continued to
11	11	honor its frontier roots and pioneering spirit as the area has
12	12	transformed into a vibrant center for business, education, and
13	13	world-class culture; and
14	14	WHEREAS, One of the most populous counties in the state and
15	15	nation, Tarrant County serves as a cultural hub in North Texas
16	16	and is known for its exceptional museums, including the renowned
17	17	Kimbell Art Museum and the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of
18	18	Fame; the county has 20 outstanding public school districts, and
19	19	it is home to many excellent institutions of higher education
20	20	that provide a variety of opportunities for students and produce
21	21	a highly educated workforce; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Leading the regional resurgence in business
23	23	expansions, retail development, and new housing construction,
24	24	Tarrant County boasts a prosperous and diverse business
25	25	community; its assets include cattle ranching, small businesses,
26	26	multinational corporations, and defense, aerospace, and
27	27	transportation industries; and
28	28	WHEREAS, In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tarrant
29	29	County organized the CARES 4 Tarrant Program, which has enabled
30	30	the distribution of $29 million to support public health
31	31	resources and to provide mass testing and vaccinations; the
32	32	program has also distributed millions of dollars in small
33	33	business grants and has provided funding for agencies and
34	34	programs to offer rental assistance and a range of social
35	35	services for the public; and
36	36	WHEREAS, The people of Tarrant County have worked hard to
37	37	create and maintain their thriving community, and they can be
38	38	justly proud of their rich history, their many achievements, and
39	39	their enduring public spirit; now, therefore, be it
40	40	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
41	41	Legislature, hereby recognize February 23 and 24, 2021, as
42	42	Tarrant County Days at the State Capitol and extend to all
43	43	sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and rewarding event; and, be
44	44	it further
45	45	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
46	46	honor of this special occasion.
