SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 87
WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is pleased to pay tribute to one
of its most treasured and respected employees, Tim Mateer, who is
retiring from his position in the Lieutenant Governor's
Reception Room on February 28, 2021; and
WHEREAS, After 18 years of outstanding service, Tim Mateer
is leaving his post in the Lieutenant Governor's Reception Room;
currently the lead server for Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick,
Tim has been serving lieutenant governors and their guests,
members of the Senate, and countless friends of the legislature
since 2003, and he has done so with exceptional dedication and
finesse; and
WHEREAS, Noted for his inimitable style and engaging
personality, Tim is the reception room's popular and welcoming
host; gregarious and knowledgeable on a wide range of subjects,
Tim is an affable and avid conversationalist, and legislators and
Capitol guests often visit the room to enjoy his camaraderie and
the convivial ambience; energetic and entertaining, Tim has also
been a much-sought-after host and server for a number of the
stately room's events and parties; and
WHEREAS, A colorful character with multiple talents and
interests, Tim is a gifted actor who has performed on Broadway, a
history and museum buff, and an ardent storyteller, and he has
delighted many an eager listener in the reception room with his
personal stories and his accounts of the Capitol's history and
the building's artwork and artifacts; and
WHEREAS, Tim Mateer is revered for his loyal and skillful
Senate service and beloved by all for his warmth and the joy he
brings to others; he is truly a cherished employee, and his
presence in the Lieutenant Governor's Reception Room will be
greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
Legislature, hereby express sincerest appreciation to Tim Mateer
for his many years of invaluable service and extend to him best
wishes for the future in all of his endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of Tim Mateer.
