SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 91 In Memory of James V. Ryan WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of James V. Ryan, who died May 23, 2020, at the age of 57; and WHEREAS, James Ryan was an exemplary citizen who served as an inspiration to countless people through his courage in the face of adversity and his determination to live an independent life; and WHEREAS, He was born on June 14, 1962; he became the victim of a brain stem stroke, which left him a quadriplegic with severe disabilities; despite his physical limitations, he exhibited strength and perseverance in his quest to live as independently as possible; and WHEREAS, With the help of the Texas Rehabilitation Commission and the untiring support of his family, he was able to make the transition from a group home in Austin to living in his own home in New Braunfels; and WHEREAS, He was a man of extraordinary mental fortitude and dignity, and he was greatly admired and respected by all who were privileged to share in his life; and WHEREAS, He was beloved by many, and he leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever by his family and friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of James V. Ryan; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of James Ryan.
