| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of James V. Ryan, who died May 23, 2020, at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the age of 57; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, James Ryan was an exemplary citizen who served as |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | an inspiration to countless people through his courage in the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | face of adversity and his determination to live an independent |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | life; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, He was born on June 14, 1962; he became the victim |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of a brain stem stroke, which left him a quadriplegic with severe |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | disabilities; despite his physical limitations, he exhibited |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | strength and perseverance in his quest to live as independently |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | as possible; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, With the help of the Texas Rehabilitation |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Commission and the untiring support of his family, he was able to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | make the transition from a group home in Austin to living in his |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | own home in New Braunfels; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, He was a man of extraordinary mental fortitude and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | dignity, and he was greatly admired and respected by all who were |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | privileged to share in his life; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, He was beloved by many, and he leaves behind |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | memories that will be cherished forever by his family and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | family of James V. Ryan; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | memory of James Ryan. |
