| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 26, Local Government Code, | |
| 11 | 11 | is amended by adding Section 26.048 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 26.048. RECALL ELECTIONS IN SINGLE-MEMBER DISTRICTS. | |
| 13 | 13 | (a) This section applies to a municipality that has a single-member | |
| 14 | 14 | district form of representation for the governing body of the | |
| 15 | 15 | municipality. | |
| 16 | 16 | (b) A municipality may not adopt or enforce an ordinance or | |
| 17 | 17 | charter provision authorizing an election by the municipality at | |
| 18 | 18 | large for the recall of a member of the municipality's governing | |
| 19 | 19 | body who was elected from a single-member district. Only voters of a | |
| 20 | 20 | single-member district may vote in an election to recall a member | |
| 21 | 21 | of the governing body who was elected from the district. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
