8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 84.001, Election Code, is amended by | |
10 | 10 | amending Subsection (e) and adding Subsection (e-1) to read as | |
11 | 11 | follows: | |
12 | 12 | (e) Except as provided by Subsection (e-1), an application | |
13 | 13 | [An applicant] for a ballot to be voted by mail serves as an | |
14 | 14 | application both [may apply] for a ballot [ballots] for the main | |
15 | 15 | election and for any resulting runoff election [on the same | |
16 | 16 | application]. If an application [for the main election and any | |
17 | 17 | resulting runoff] is not timely for the main election, it will be | |
18 | 18 | considered timely for any resulting runoff if received not later | |
19 | 19 | than the deadline, determined using the date of the runoff | |
20 | 20 | election, for submitting a regular application for a ballot to be | |
21 | 21 | voted by mail. | |
22 | 22 | (e-1) An applicant for a ballot to be voted by mail for the | |
23 | 23 | main election may request not to receive a ballot for a resulting | |
24 | 24 | runoff election. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect on the 91st day after the | |
26 | 26 | last day of the legislative session. |
