44 A JOINT RESOLUTION
55 proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing certain persons
66 under the age of 18 to vote in a primary election.
77 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Article VI, Texas Constitution, is amended by
99 adding Section 1a to read as follows:
1010 Sec. 1a. The legislature by general law may provide for
1111 voting in a primary election by a person who:
1212 (1) will be 18 years of age or older on the date of the
1313 subsequent general election for state and county officers; and
1414 (2) satisfies the other applicable requirements for
1515 eligibility to vote.
1616 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1717 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 2021.
1818 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
1919 proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing a person
2020 who will be 18 years of age or older on the date of the general
2121 election for state and county officers to vote in the preceding
2222 primary election."
