55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, The city of Kingwood lost a beloved resident with
77 the passing of Howard Pitman on May 3, 2020, at the age of 92; and
88 WHEREAS, Born on March 7, 1928, Howard Pitman grew up in
99 Beverly, Massachusetts; after high school, he served in the U.S.
1010 Navy as a radioman in Key West, Florida; the GI Bill enabled him to
1111 attend the University of Florida, where he joined the Phi Sigma
1212 Kappa fraternity; he went on to pursue a successful career in sales
1313 with Procter & Gamble; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Pitman married the former Mary Helen Morgan in
1515 June 1959; they moved to Kingwood in 1973, and Mr. Pitman became
1616 very active in the community; he served on the water board and the
1717 board of the Kingwood Service Association, and he was president of
1818 the Kings Forest Community Association; for many years, he wrote a
1919 weekly column for the Kingwood Observer, and he also founded a local
2020 wine group, participated in theater, and excelled in karaoke; an
2121 avid collector of art and pottery, he enjoyed visiting Houston
2222 galleries and museums; and
2323 WHEREAS, An outgoing and engaging man of deep patriotism and
2424 many interests, Howard Pitman is greatly missed by those he left
2525 behind, but they will forever treasure their memories of time spent
2626 in his company; now, therefore, be it
2727 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2828 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
2929 Howard Pitman and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his
3030 passing; and, be it further
3131 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3232 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3333 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Howard
3434 Pitman.
