| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The city of Kingwood lost a beloved resident with |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the passing of Howard Pitman on May 3, 2020, at the age of 92; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on March 7, 1928, Howard Pitman grew up in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Beverly, Massachusetts; after high school, he served in the U.S. |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Navy as a radioman in Key West, Florida; the GI Bill enabled him to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | attend the University of Florida, where he joined the Phi Sigma |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Kappa fraternity; he went on to pursue a successful career in sales |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | with Procter & Gamble; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Pitman married the former Mary Helen Morgan in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | June 1959; they moved to Kingwood in 1973, and Mr. Pitman became |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | very active in the community; he served on the water board and the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | board of the Kingwood Service Association, and he was president of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the Kings Forest Community Association; for many years, he wrote a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | weekly column for the Kingwood Observer, and he also founded a local |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | wine group, participated in theater, and excelled in karaoke; an |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | avid collector of art and pottery, he enjoyed visiting Houston |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | galleries and museums; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, An outgoing and engaging man of deep patriotism and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | many interests, Howard Pitman is greatly missed by those he left |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | behind, but they will forever treasure their memories of time spent |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | in his company; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Howard Pitman and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | passing; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Howard |
|---|
