6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The thousands of deaths caused by COVID-19 in Texas |

7 | 7 | | have created a tremendous void in families, communities, and |

8 | 8 | | workplaces throughout the state; among those who lost their lives |
---|
9 | 9 | | in the pandemic was Michael Harper, a dedicated and well-respected |
---|
10 | 10 | | employee of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, who passed |
---|
11 | 11 | | away on December 1, 2020, at the age of 56; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, A 22-year veteran of TDCJ, Mr. Harper was a |
---|
13 | 13 | | maintenance supervisor in the Skyview/Hodge Unit in Rusk; he |
---|
14 | 14 | | balanced his career with a rewarding home life with his wife, Joyce, |
---|
15 | 15 | | and their sons, Brandon, Cody, Chase, and Kade, and in his spare |
---|
16 | 16 | | time, he enjoyed coaching his children's baseball teams and playing |
---|
17 | 17 | | competitive pool; he took great pride in his work and served as an |
---|
18 | 18 | | inspiration to his fellow employees; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Michael Harper faithfully and ably performed his |
---|
20 | 20 | | duties throughout his tenure with the Texas Department of Criminal |
---|
21 | 21 | | Justice, and he will long be remembered with great admiration by all |
---|
22 | 22 | | who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |
---|
23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
---|
24 | 24 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |
---|
25 | 25 | | Michael Harper and extend deepest sympathy to his family, friends, |
---|
26 | 26 | | and colleagues; and, be it further |
---|
27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
---|
28 | 28 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
---|
29 | 29 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Michael |
---|
