55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, The thousands of deaths caused by COVID-19 in Texas
77 have created a tremendous void in families, communities, and
88 workplaces throughout the state; among those who lost their lives
99 in the pandemic was Kenneth Russell, a dedicated and well-respected
1010 employee of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, who passed
1111 away on December 2, 2020, at the age of 84; and
1212 WHEREAS, Kenneth Russell joined the TDCJ at the age of 74 as a
1313 maintenance supervisor at the Smith Unit in Lamesa; he was a loving
1414 husband to his wife of 50 years, Patricia, and the proud father of
1515 six children, Jeff, Kerry, Steven, John, Sandy, and Allen; working
1616 well into his 80s, he outperformed many younger employees, and his
1717 enthusiasm and diligence endeared him to the facility's staff and
1818 its inmates; and
1919 WHEREAS, Kenneth Russell faithfully and ably performed his
2020 duties throughout his tenure with the Texas Department of Criminal
2121 Justice, and he will long be remembered with great admiration by all
2222 who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2424 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
2525 Kenneth Russell and extend deepest sympathy to his family, friends,
2626 and colleagues; and, be it further
2727 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2828 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
2929 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kenneth
3030 Russell.
