55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, The thousands of deaths caused by COVID-19 in Texas
77 have created a tremendous void in families, communities, and
88 workplaces throughout the state; among those who lost their lives
99 in the pandemic was Officer Vickie James, a dedicated and
1010 well-respected employee of the Texas Department of Criminal
1111 Justice, who passed away on February 10, 2021, at the age of 59; and
1212 WHEREAS, Officer James served on the third shift at the
1313 Choice Moore Unit in Bonham; when not working, she enjoyed
1414 collecting antiques for her home in Celeste, and she was also a
1515 talented artist; though she had only been with TDCJ for four years
1616 at the time of her passing, she was a vital member of her team and
1717 acted as a parental figure for her coworkers; and
1818 WHEREAS, Vickie James faithfully and ably performed her
1919 duties throughout her tenure with the Texas Department of Criminal
2020 Justice, and she will long be remembered with great admiration by
2121 all who were privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2323 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
2424 Officer Vickie James and extend deepest sympathy to her family,
2525 friends, and colleagues; and, be it further
2626 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2727 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
2828 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Vickie
2929 James.
