55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, The thousands of deaths caused by COVID-19 in Texas
77 have created a tremendous void in families, communities, and
88 workplaces throughout the state; among those who lost their lives
99 in the pandemic was Tawiwo Obele, a dedicated and well-respected
1010 employee of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, who passed
1111 away on February 16, 2021, at the age of 68; and
1212 WHEREAS, Ms. Obele, who was assigned to the Beto Unit near
1313 Palestine, had worked for the TDCJ for two years; she enjoyed a warm
1414 rapport with her colleagues, and she was known to be a caring and
1515 empathetic listener; and
1616 WHEREAS, Tawiwo Obele faithfully and ably performed her
1717 duties throughout her tenure with the Texas Department of Criminal
1818 Justice, and she will long be remembered with great admiration by
1919 all who were privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it
2020 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2121 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
2222 Tawiwo Obele and extend deepest sympathy to her family, friends,
2323 and colleagues; and, be it further
2424 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2525 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
2626 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tawiwo
2727 Obele.
