| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Robinson is being inducted into the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Mrs. H. D. Dear, Sr. and Alice E. Dear School of Creative and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Performing Arts Hall of Fame at Northwestern State University; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, An alumnus of CAPA, Mr. Robinson holds a bachelor's |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | degree in music education from Northwestern State University in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Natchitoches, Louisiana, and a master's degree from East Texas |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | State University; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson began his long career in education with |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the Marshall Independent School District, where, over the course of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | a 30-year tenure, he served as a percussion coordinator, band |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | director, and fine arts coordinator; in 1993, he joined East Texas |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Baptist University as an adjunct instructor of music, and he has |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | since taught classes on percussion and woodwind methods; after |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | retiring from Marshall ISD in 2007, he went on to teach percussion |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | at a number of school districts throughout East Texas, as well as at |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Wiley College; along the way, he has also served as a guest |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | conductor for junior high and ninth-grade bands in Louisiana, and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | he has benefited the Texas Music Educators Association as |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | percussion organizer and clinician for the All-State Bands and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Orchestras; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A talented musician, Mr. Robinson has performed |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | with symphonies in Shreveport, Longview, and Marshall, and he has |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | served as first sergeant and principal percussionist for the 531st |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Air Force Band; over the course of his air force career, he toured |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | in the Czech Republic, taught private lessons to troops, and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | appeared with the U.S. Air Force Band of the West; additionally, he |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | has participated in a music ministry that performs in nursing homes |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | and hospitals, and in 1995 he established the first colonial fife |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | and drum corps in Marshall, the East Texas Ancients Fife and Drum |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Corps; and |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Through his remarkable success as an educator and |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | musician, Anthony Robinson has furthered the proud tradition of |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | achievement at Northwestern State University, and he is indeed |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Anthony |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | Robinson on his induction into the Mrs. H. D. Dear, Sr. and Alice |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | E. Dear School of Creative and Performing Arts Hall of Fame and |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 45 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
