| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 43, Election Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 43.008 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 43.008. CAMPUS POLLING PLACES. (a) In this section, | |
| 13 | 13 | "institution of higher education" has the meaning assigned by | |
| 14 | 14 | Section 61.003, Education Code. | |
| 15 | 15 | (b) The commissioners court of a county shall designate as a | |
| 16 | 16 | polling place a number of locations on the main campus of an | |
| 17 | 17 | institution of higher education located in the county as follows: | |
| 18 | 18 | (1) if at least 5,000 but fewer than 10,000 students | |
| 19 | 19 | are enrolled at the institution, one location; or | |
| 20 | 20 | (2) if at least 10,000 students are enrolled at the | |
| 21 | 21 | institution, two locations and one additional location for every | |
| 22 | 22 | 10,000 students enrolled at the institution over 10,000 students. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect on the 91st day after the | |
| 24 | 24 | last day of the legislative session. |
