| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Genealogical |

| 8 | 8 | | Society of Harlingen is one of seven such organizations in Texas; |

| 9 | 9 | | sister organizations are the Tejano Genealogical Society, |

| 10 | 10 | | Austin; the Hispanic Organization for Genealogy and Research, |

| 11 | 11 | | Dallas; Los Bexareños Genealogical and Historical Society, San |

| 12 | 12 | | Antonio; the Houston Hispanic Genealogical Society; the Spanish |

| 13 | 13 | | American Genealogical Association, Corpus Christi; and the Villa |

| 14 | 14 | | de San Agustin Genealogical Society, Laredo; and |

| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, This annual event is the largest conference of its |

| 16 | 16 | | kind in the United States and draws a wide range of researchers, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | authors, historians, and genealogical and DNA professionals; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, This year's conference will offer lectures and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | symposia, along with tours to areas of historic interest, that |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | will highlight the Hispanic heritage of South Texas and northern |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Mexico; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the Rio Grande |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Valley Hispanic Genealogical Society of Harlingen and its sister |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | organizations on their commitment to educating the public |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | regarding Hispanic heritage and extend to them best wishes for a |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | successful 41st Annual Texas Hispanic Genealogical and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Historical Conference; and, be it further |
