11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 39
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize Sandra Clark, who is being honored with a Robert H.
44 Miller Professional of the Year Award for her pioneering
55 achievements in the funeral and mortuary industry; and
66 WHEREAS, This prestigious award is the highest honor that
77 is given to a professional in the industry and is bestowed by the
88 National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association; and
99 WHEREAS, After an initial career as a special education
1010 teacher, Sandra Clark became inspired to enter the funeral
1111 profession in 1987; the following year, she opened the Sandra
1212 Clark Funeral Home and Crematorium and was the first African
1313 American woman to independently establish a funeral home in
1414 Dallas; and
1515 WHEREAS, Sandra has fostered a reputation for excellence
1616 at her funeral home, and due to her compassion, integrity, and
1717 professionalism, her business became a cornerstone of the
1818 community and one of the nation's premier mortuaries; she and her
1919 staff are noted for providing the highest quality of support to
2020 clients as they process the passing of loved ones; and
2121 WHEREAS, Sandra is a highly regarded business leader, an
2222 active community steward, and a generous philanthropist; her
2323 thoughtful and wise mentorship has helped many area women become
2424 strong leaders in their fields; and
2525 WHEREAS, Guided in all things by her faith and her love of
2626 family, Sandra is an esteemed member of the Dallas community, and
2727 she can reflect with pride on her trailblazing accomplishments as
2828 the owner and chief executive officer of the Sandra Clark Funeral
2929 Home and Crematorium; now, therefore, be it
3030 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
3131 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby recognize Sandra Clark
3232 for her exceptional achievements in her field and extend to her
3333 congratulations on receiving a Robert H. Miller Professional of
3434 the Year Award; and, be it further
3535 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3636 her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
