| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Joseph Carney, who has been named the recipient of the |

| 4 | 4 | | 2021 Reliever Airport Manager of the Year Award by the Texas |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Department of Transportation; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Carney is manager of the Georgetown |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Municipal Airport; over the past year, he has demonstrated |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | outstanding leadership and an inspiring commitment to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | excellence while facing the many challenges posed by the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | COVID-19 pandemic; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The Georgetown Municipal Airport saw a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | continual increase in operations in 2020 and carried out |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | multiple improvement projects on the field, including the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | installation of taxiway lights and signage; Mr. Carney's deft |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | handling of the coordination of such improvement projects |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | ensured that air traffic control tower operators were informed |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of activities on the ground and that airport operations |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | continued to run smoothly; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Carney played a vital role in improving |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | working conditions and efficiency for airport staff, and he has |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | worked diligently to help create a proactive budget plan to meet |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the need for the replacement of critical tower systems; he has |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | prioritized the health and safety of the airport's employees and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | took particular care to ensure a safe work environment during the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | COVID-19 pandemic; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Carney has ably led one of the busiest |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | reliever airports in the state, and it is truly fitting that he |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Joseph Carney |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | on his outstanding leadership as manager of the Georgetown |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Municipal Airport and extend congratulations to him on |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | receiving the 2021 Reliever Airport Manager of the Year Award; |
