44 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
55 AN ACT
66 relating to the payment by warrant of salaries of members of the
77 house of representatives and their staffs when a call of the house
88 of representatives has been ordered.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 659, Government Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 659.086 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 659.086. SALARY PAYMENT BY WARRANT WHEN CALL OF HOUSE
1313 HAS BEEN ORDERED. Notwithstanding Section 403.016 or 659.084 or
1414 any other law, if a call of the house of representatives has been
1515 ordered to secure and maintain a quorum, the comptroller may only
1616 pay the net state salary of a member of the house of representatives
1717 or an employee of a member of the house of representatives by
1818 warrant. A warrant described by this section issued to pay a member
1919 or the member’s employee may only be delivered to the member:
2020 (1) in person after government-issued photo
2121 identification has been provided; and
2222 (2) in the office of the speaker of the house of
2323 representatives.
2424 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2525 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2626 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2727 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2828 Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the
2929 legislative session.
