7 | 7 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Section 418.012, Government Code, is amended to | |
9 | 9 | read as follows: | |
10 | 10 | Sec. 418.012. EXECUTIVE ORDERS. (a) Under this chapter, | |
11 | 11 | the governor may issue executive orders, proclamations, and | |
12 | 12 | regulations and amend or rescind them. Executive orders, | |
13 | 13 | proclamations, and regulations have the force and effect of law. | |
14 | 14 | (b) An executive order, proclamation, or regulation issued | |
15 | 15 | under this chapter may not prohibit an institution of higher | |
16 | 16 | education, school district, or charter school from adopting a | |
17 | 17 | policy requiring the wearing of face coverings during a disaster. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
19 | 19 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
20 | 20 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
21 | 21 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
22 | 22 | Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the | |
23 | 23 | legislative session. |
