66 relating to certain executive orders affecting public schools.
77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Section 418.012, Government Code, is amended to
99 read as follows:
1010 Sec. 418.012. EXECUTIVE ORDERS. (a) Under this chapter,
1111 the governor may issue executive orders, proclamations, and
1212 regulations and amend or rescind them. Executive orders,
1313 proclamations, and regulations have the force and effect of law.
1414 (b) An executive order, proclamation, or regulation issued
1515 under this chapter may not prohibit an institution of higher
1616 education, school district, or charter school from adopting a
1717 policy requiring the wearing of face coverings during a disaster.
1818 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1919 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2020 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2121 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2222 Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the
2323 legislative session.
