| 7 | 7 | | relating to the reporting of political expenditures made by certain |

| 8 | 8 | | persons or entities before and during a special session of the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | legislature. |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Sections 254.0391(a) and (c), Election Code, are |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (a) A statewide officeholder, a member of the legislature, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | or a specific-purpose committee for supporting, opposing, or |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | assisting a statewide officeholder or member of the legislature, or |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | a candidate for statewide office or the legislature or a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | specific-purpose committee for supporting or opposing the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | candidate, that accepts a political contribution or makes a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | political expenditure during the period beginning on the date the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | governor signs the proclamation calling a special legislative |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | session and continuing through the date of final adjournment shall |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | report the contribution or expenditure to the commission not later |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | than the 30th day after the date of final adjournment. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (c) Each report required by this section must include, as |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | applicable: |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (1) the amount of the political contribution, the full |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | name and address of the person making the contribution, and the date |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of the contribution; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (2) the amount of the political expenditure, the full |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | name and address of each person to whom the expenditure is made, and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | the date and purpose of the expenditure. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | a political expenditure made on or after the effective date of this |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Act. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect on the 91st day after the |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | last day of the legislative session. |
