8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Section 10, Article III, Texas Constitution, is | |
9 | 9 | amended to read as follows: | |
10 | 10 | Sec. 10. QUORUM; ADJOURNMENTS FROM DAY TO DAY; COMPELLING | |
11 | 11 | ATTENDANCE. A majority [Two-thirds] of the members of each House of | |
12 | 12 | the Legislature shall constitute a quorum to do business, but a | |
13 | 13 | smaller number may adjourn from day to day, and compel the | |
14 | 14 | attendance of absent members, in such manner and under such | |
15 | 15 | penalties as each House may provide. | |
16 | 16 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
17 | 17 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 2021. | |
18 | 18 | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | |
19 | 19 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment to provide that a | |
20 | 20 | majority of the members of the senate or house of representatives of | |
21 | 21 | the Texas Legislature constitutes a quorum for that house to do | |
22 | 22 | business." |
