45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Erica Marin began a new role as director of the El
67 Paso Museum of History on August 6, 2021; and
78 WHEREAS, The first El Paso native and Latina to be appointed
89 director of EPMH, Ms. Marin is well prepared to guide the museum as
910 it expands its outreach and launches new exhibits; she was employed
1011 as a curator before taking the helm of EPMH, and she contributed to
1112 the success of a number of community-driven exhibitions, including
1213 "Neighborhoods & Shared Memories: Sunset Heights" and "Low & Slow:
1314 Lowrider Culture on the Border"; she has also served as a curator
1415 for Las Cruces Museums and Purple Gallery, and she has further
1516 distinguished herself through her work as an artist; and
1617 WHEREAS, Ms. Marin holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts and
1718 museum conservation from New Mexico State University and a master's
1819 degree in public history from The University of Texas at El Paso; in
1920 addition, she is a Fellow of the National Association of Latino Arts
2021 and Cultures Leadership Institute; and
2122 WHEREAS, Admired for her vision, expertise, and deep
2223 commitment to her community, Erica Marin is poised to lead the El
2324 Paso Museum of History into an exciting new era; now, therefore, be
2425 it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2627 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Erica Marin on
2728 her appointment as director of the El Paso Museum of History and
2829 extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
2930 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3031 prepared for Ms. Marin as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3132 House of Representatives.
