5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The life of a highly respected civic leader drew to a |

6 | 7 | | close with the passing of Kenneth Duncan Dickson of Rockwall on |

7 | 8 | | August 19, 2021, at the age of 82; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Kenneth and Trixie Dickson, Ken Dickson |
---|
9 | 10 | | was born on December 29, 1938, and grew up in Dallas; he graduated |
---|
10 | 11 | | from W. W. Samuell High School in 1957 and earned a bachelor's |
---|
11 | 12 | | degree in business and agriculture from East Texas State |
---|
12 | 13 | | University; answering his nation's call to duty, he served in the |
---|
13 | 14 | | U.S. Army and with the 49th Armored Division of the Army National |
---|
14 | 15 | | Guard; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Active with local politics for more than 40 years, |
---|
16 | 17 | | Mr. Dickson was a founding member of the Rockwall County Republican |
---|
17 | 18 | | Men's Club, serving two terms as president and continuing as a |
---|
18 | 19 | | member of the executive committee until his death; furthermore, he |
---|
19 | 20 | | was a precinct chair, an election judge, and a delegate to |
---|
20 | 21 | | Republican state conventions; he worked in support of |
---|
21 | 22 | | U.S. Representative Ralph Hall's election campaigns, and he |
---|
22 | 23 | | received the Ralph M. Hall Chairman's Award for a lifetime of |
---|
23 | 24 | | service to the Republican Party; in recognition of Mr. Dickson's |
---|
24 | 25 | | achievements, a street was named after him in Rockwall, where he was |
---|
25 | 26 | | on the city council for four years; and |
---|
26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Dickson was a founding member and president of |
---|
27 | 28 | | the North American Tuli Association and a co-owner of the Tuli |
---|
28 | 29 | | cattle breed magazine, and he cherished the time he spent caring for |
---|
29 | 30 | | his own cattle; in the 1980s, he began working in the oil and gas |
---|
30 | 31 | | industry, and at the age of 82, he had no plans to retire; since |
---|
31 | 32 | | 2005, he had served as a member of the Interstate Oil and Gas |
---|
32 | 33 | | Compact Commission; and |
---|
33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Dickson enjoyed the love |
---|
34 | 35 | | and support of his wife of 44 years, Judith; he was the devoted |
---|
35 | 36 | | father of two children, Kenneth and Jason, and he treasured his four |
---|
36 | 37 | | grandchildren; a committed Christian, he was a valued congregant of |
---|
37 | 38 | | Lakepointe Church, where he was a longtime volunteer at the |
---|
38 | 39 | | Connection Center; and |
---|
39 | 40 | | WHEREAS, Admired for his strong faith, his magnanimous |
---|
40 | 41 | | personality, and his dedication to his fellow citizens, Ken Dickson |
---|
41 | 42 | | lived a caring and purposeful life, and he leaves behind a record of |
---|
42 | 43 | | service that his loved ones can remember with pride; now, |
---|
43 | 44 | | therefore, be it |

44 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

45 | 46 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |

46 | 47 | | of Kenneth Duncan Dickson and extend heartfelt sympathy to the |

47 | 48 | | members of his family: to his wife, Judith Dion Dickson; to his |

48 | 49 | | sons, Kenneth Dickson and his wife, Lynne, and Jason Dickson and his |

49 | 50 | | wife, Lauren; to his grandchildren, Abigail Peavey and her husband, |

50 | 51 | | Rafe, and Macy, Cohen, and Savannah Dickson; and to his many other |
