45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The life of a highly respected civic leader drew to a
67 close with the passing of Kenneth Duncan Dickson of Rockwall on
78 August 19, 2021, at the age of 82; and
89 WHEREAS, The son of Kenneth and Trixie Dickson, Ken Dickson
910 was born on December 29, 1938, and grew up in Dallas; he graduated
1011 from W. W. Samuell High School in 1957 and earned a bachelor's
1112 degree in business and agriculture from East Texas State
1213 University; answering his nation's call to duty, he served in the
1314 U.S. Army and with the 49th Armored Division of the Army National
1415 Guard; and
1516 WHEREAS, Active with local politics for more than 40 years,
1617 Mr. Dickson was a founding member of the Rockwall County Republican
1718 Men's Club, serving two terms as president and continuing as a
1819 member of the executive committee until his death; furthermore, he
1920 was a precinct chair, an election judge, and a delegate to
2021 Republican state conventions; he worked in support of
2122 U.S. Representative Ralph Hall's election campaigns, and he
2223 received the Ralph M. Hall Chairman's Award for a lifetime of
2324 service to the Republican Party; in recognition of Mr. Dickson's
2425 achievements, a street was named after him in Rockwall, where he was
2526 on the city council for four years; and
2627 WHEREAS, Mr. Dickson was a founding member and president of
2728 the North American Tuli Association and a co-owner of the Tuli
2829 cattle breed magazine, and he cherished the time he spent caring for
2930 his own cattle; in the 1980s, he began working in the oil and gas
3031 industry, and at the age of 82, he had no plans to retire; since
3132 2005, he had served as a member of the Interstate Oil and Gas
3233 Compact Commission; and
3334 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Dickson enjoyed the love
3435 and support of his wife of 44 years, Judith; he was the devoted
3536 father of two children, Kenneth and Jason, and he treasured his four
3637 grandchildren; a committed Christian, he was a valued congregant of
3738 Lakepointe Church, where he was a longtime volunteer at the
3839 Connection Center; and
3940 WHEREAS, Admired for his strong faith, his magnanimous
4041 personality, and his dedication to his fellow citizens, Ken Dickson
4142 lived a caring and purposeful life, and he leaves behind a record of
4243 service that his loved ones can remember with pride; now,
4344 therefore, be it
4445 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
4546 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
4647 of Kenneth Duncan Dickson and extend heartfelt sympathy to the
4748 members of his family: to his wife, Judith Dion Dickson; to his
4849 sons, Kenneth Dickson and his wife, Lynne, and Jason Dickson and his
4950 wife, Lauren; to his grandchildren, Abigail Peavey and her husband,
5051 Rafe, and Macy, Cohen, and Savannah Dickson; and to his many other
5152 relatives and friends; and, be it further
5253 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5354 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5455 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ken
5556 Dickson.
