| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of George W. Atteberry of Woodville on August 3, 2021, at |

| 7 | 8 | | the age of 78; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, George Atteberry was born on July 9, 1943; answering |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | his nation's call to duty, he joined the United States Air Force and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | went on to complete four tours in Vietnam; he ultimately retired |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | from the military at the rank of tech sergeant after 22 years of |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | dedicated service; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Atteberry worked as |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | a corrections officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | for 15 years; a valued member of his community, he served with the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Ivanhoe Volunteer Fire Department and the Warren Volunteer Fire |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Department, and he was later appointed fire marshal of the Tyler |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | County emergency district; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Atteberry enjoyed the love |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | and support of his wife, Antoinette, and he took great pride in his |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | daughters, Shawnee and Nacole; with the passing years, he had the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | pleasure of welcoming into his family numerous grandchildren and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Known for his kindness, wisdom, and strength of |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | character, George Atteberry earned the respect and admiration of |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | all who were fortunate enough to know him, and he leaves behind a |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | legacy of service that his loved ones can remember with pride; now, |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 30 | 31 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |
