45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
67 passing of George W. Atteberry of Woodville on August 3, 2021, at
78 the age of 78; and
89 WHEREAS, George Atteberry was born on July 9, 1943; answering
910 his nation's call to duty, he joined the United States Air Force and
1011 went on to complete four tours in Vietnam; he ultimately retired
1112 from the military at the rank of tech sergeant after 22 years of
1213 dedicated service; and
1314 WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Atteberry worked as
1415 a corrections officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice
1516 for 15 years; a valued member of his community, he served with the
1617 Ivanhoe Volunteer Fire Department and the Warren Volunteer Fire
1718 Department, and he was later appointed fire marshal of the Tyler
1819 County emergency district; and
1920 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Atteberry enjoyed the love
2021 and support of his wife, Antoinette, and he took great pride in his
2122 daughters, Shawnee and Nacole; with the passing years, he had the
2223 pleasure of welcoming into his family numerous grandchildren and
2324 great-grandchildren; and
2425 WHEREAS, Known for his kindness, wisdom, and strength of
2526 character, George Atteberry earned the respect and admiration of
2627 all who were fortunate enough to know him, and he leaves behind a
2728 legacy of service that his loved ones can remember with pride; now,
2829 therefore, be it
2930 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3031 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
3132 George W. Atteberry and extend deepest condolences to the members
3233 of his family: to his wife, Antoinette Atteberry; to his daughters,
3334 Shawnee Lovin and Nacole Miller; to his brother, Kyle Atteberry; to
3435 his grandchildren, Kenneth Atteberry, Desiree Swenson, Alicia
3536 Atteberry, and Krysteena Brockman; to his nieces, nephews, and
3637 great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and,
3738 be it further
3839 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3940 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4041 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George
4142 Atteberry.
