| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In 2004, Mr. Darsnek began photographing places and |

| 9 | 10 | | buildings across Texas that he feared would one day be lost without |

| 10 | 11 | | having been recorded, and in 2013, he started sharing his photos on |

| 11 | 12 | | social media; his Facebook account took off in 2015, when he |

| 12 | 13 | | uploaded a vintage photograph of the original Whataburger location |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | in Corpus Christi from 1955, and the photo reached 12 million |

| 14 | 15 | | viewers; and |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Since embarking on the project, Mr. Darsnek has |

| 16 | 17 | | traveled more than 200,000 miles across the state to take pictures, |

| 17 | 18 | | and the Traces of Texas website features a robust collection of his |

| 18 | 19 | | striking color photographs of such sites as roadside cafes, ranch |

| 19 | 20 | | gates, railroad bridges, drive-in theaters, and countless other |

| 20 | 21 | | subjects; the website also includes arcane Texas facts that are |

| 21 | 22 | | updated daily and a forum for visitors to share their own stories |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In addition to the website and Facebook page, Traces |

| 24 | 25 | | of Texas is available on Instagram and Twitter, where followers can |

| 25 | 26 | | enjoy photographs of various sites, as well as stills from classic |

| 26 | 27 | | Texas films and remembrances of celebrated Texans of the past; and |

| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Jac Darsnek has cultivated an online community |

| 28 | 29 | | dedicated to all things Texan, and he may indeed take great pride in |

| 29 | 30 | | his success at documenting the history, people, and culture of his |

| 30 | 31 | | beloved Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
