5	5		WHEREAS, Judge K. Randall Hufstetler is retiring from the
6	6		300th Judicial District Court of Brazoria County in December 2022,
7	7		drawing to a close nearly a quarter century of distinguished
8	8		service on the bench; and
9	9		WHEREAS, Randall Hufstetler earned his bachelor's degree
10	10		from Austin College and his law degree from St. Mary's University,
11	11		and he began his legal career in 1986 as an associate in the firm of
12	12		Hill, Ellis and Walker in Sherman; he went on to set up his own
13	13		practice in Pearland in 1993; and
14	14		WHEREAS, In 1995, Judge Hufstetler entered public service
15	15		when he became an assistant district attorney for Brazoria County,
16	16		and since 1999, he has been district judge for the county's 300th
17	17		Judicial District Court, presiding over a dual docket of family
18	18		court cases and felony criminal cases; between 2002 and 2014, he
19	19		also served several terms as presiding judge of Brazoria County;
20	20		following his retirement from the court, he plans to return to
21	21		private practice; and
22	22		WHEREAS, In addition to his responsibilities on the bench,
23	23		Judge Hufstetler has taught at Alvin Community College and the
24	24		University of Houston-Clear Lake, and he has been on the faculty of
25	25		the National Family Law Trial Institute of Houston since 2013; he is
26	26		currently a member of the Supreme Court of Texas Permanent Judicial
27	27		Commission for Children, Youth, and Families, where he serves on
28	28		the Task Force on Court-Appointed Legal Representation and as chair
29	29		of the Legal Practice and Process Committee; and
30	30		WHEREAS, Judge Hufstetler has also found time to serve as
31	31		vice president of the Brazoria County Bar Association, as a judge on
32	32		the Teen Court of Brazoria County, and as a member of the county's
33	33		Community Supervision and Corrections Department board, Juvenile
34	34		Probation Department board, and Bail Bond Board; a sought-after
35	35		speaker, he has been recognized as the Judge of the Year by the
36	36		Brazoria County Women's Bar Association and as the Professional of
37	37		the Year by Brazoria County Youth & Family Counseling Services, and
38	38		he has been inducted into the National Youth Court Center Volunteer
39	39		Hall of Fame; and
40	40		WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Judge Hufstetler enjoys the
41	41		love and support of his wife of nearly 40 years, Danette Hufstetler,
42	42		his children, Maegan and Kristopher, and his grandchildren, Chip,
43	43		Hartley, and Kaden; and
44	44		WHEREAS, Randall Hufstetler's dedication, expertise, and
45	45		commitment to justice have greatly benefited the citizens of
46	46		Brazoria County and earned him the respect and admiration of his
47	47		peers, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his successful tenure
48	48		on the court as he embarks upon the next exciting chapter of his
49	49		life; now, therefore, be it
50	50		RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
51	51		Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate the Honorable
52	52		K. Randall Hufstetler on his retirement from the 300th Judicial
53	53		District Court of Brazoria County and extend to him sincere best
54	54		wishes for the future; and, be it further
55	55		RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
56	56		prepared for Judge Hufstetler as an expression of high regard by the
57	57		Texas House of Representatives.
