45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, El Paso City Council member Cecilia Lizarraga has
67 demonstrated an admirable commitment to serving her fellow Texans
78 during the COVID-19 pandemic; and
89 WHEREAS, This devoted public official has worked tirelessly
910 to safeguard the health of area residents while ensuring that they
1011 continue to receive essential public services; although the
1112 pandemic has placed immense burdens on the local community,
1213 Ms. Lizarraga has risen to this unprecedented challenge, and her
1314 efforts have been instrumental in helping El Paso navigate the
1415 crisis; and
1516 WHEREAS, Ms. Lizarraga has represented District 8 on the city
1617 council since assuming office on July 25, 2017; a retired educator,
1718 she previously worked for the El Paso Independent School District;
1819 she holds a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at
1920 El Paso and a master's degree from The University of Texas at
2021 Austin; and
2122 WHEREAS, Cecilia Lizarraga's decisive leadership has greatly
2223 benefited the citizens of El Paso during a time of heightened danger
2324 and uncertainty, and she is truly deserving of special recognition
2425 for her impressive achievements; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2627 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend city council member
2728 Cecilia Lizarraga for her service to El Paso during the COVID-19
2829 pandemic and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
2930 success in her important work; and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for city council member Cecilia Lizarraga as an expression
3233 of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
