66 BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 87th
77 Texas Legislature, That the permanent rules of the House of
88 Representatives of the 87th Legislature are amended as follows:
99 (1) Rule 6, Section 20, is amended to read as follows:
1010 Sec. 20. TIME LIMIT FOR VOTE TO PLACE ON A CALENDAR. Within
1111 seven [30] calendar days after a bill or resolution has been
1212 referred to the appropriate calendars committee, the committee must
1313 vote on whether to place the bill or resolution on one of the
1414 calendars of the daily house calendar or the local, consent, and
1515 resolutions calendar, as applicable. A vote against placement of
1616 the bill or resolution on a calendar does not preclude a calendars
1717 committee from later voting in favor of placement of the bill or
1818 resolution on a calendar.
1919 (2) Rule 6, Section 21(a), is amended to read as follows:
2020 (a) When a bill or resolution has been in the appropriate
2121 calendars committee for seven [30] calendar days, exclusive of the
2222 calendar day on which it was referred, awaiting placement on one of
2323 the calendars of the daily house calendar or on the local, consent,
2424 and resolutions calendar, it shall be in order for a member to move
2525 that the bill or resolution be placed on a specific calendar of the
2626 daily house calendar or on the local, consent, and resolutions
2727 calendar without action by the committee. This motion must be
2828 seconded by five members and shall require a majority vote for
2929 adoption.
