45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Family and friends will long treasure their memories
67 of William Walter Davis Jr. of Houston, who passed away on July 16,
78 2021, at the age of 67; and
89 WHEREAS, William Davis was born in Houston on March 4, 1954,
910 to William Walter Davis Sr. and Hannah Lola Davis, and he grew up in
1011 the Pleasantville community with three sisters, Laura, Deborah, and
1112 Rolanda; in 1976, he was joined in matrimony to the former Billie
1213 Jean Carter, and the couple went on to share a rewarding union that
1314 spanned 45 years; he was the proud father of three daughters,
1415 Kimberly, Elicia, and Carlinda, and later in life, he was blessed
1516 with three grandchildren, Karsyn, Karter, and the late Kaelynn
1617 Davis-Hamilton; and
1718 WHEREAS, After receiving his early education in the Houston
1819 Independent School District, Mr. Davis attended G. T. Dental
1920 School; over the course of his career, he worked in dentistry as
2021 well as trucking, driving vehicles for Adams Trucking, Star
2122 Furniture, and Nabisco Foods; he was also active in his community as
2223 an election worker; and
2324 WHEREAS, A serious horseman, Mr. Davis delighted in the time
2425 he spent with his horse, Chloe, and he was a regular volunteer with
2526 the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where he served on the Rodeo
2627 Transportation Committee; and
2728 WHEREAS, Known affectionately as "Willie D," William Davis
2829 was an outgoing and high-spirited man who brightened the lives of
2930 his family and friends, and all those who knew and loved him will
3031 forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
3132 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3233 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
3334 of William Walter Davis Jr. and extend heartfelt sympathy to the
3435 members of his family: to his wife, Billie Jean Carter-Davis; to his
3536 daughters, Kimberly, Elicia, and Carlinda; to his grandchildren,
3637 Karsyn and Karter Woods; to his sisters, Deborah Adams and her
3738 husband, Rube, and Rolanda Davis; to his aunt, Leonora Howard; to
3839 his nephew, Leroy Davis; to his cousins, Dan Davis, Ivory "Bo"
3940 Davis, and Edward Charles Grigsby; to his brother-in-law, Charles
4041 Allen; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
4142 further
4243 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4344 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4445 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of William
4546 Walter Davis Jr.
