| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Brotherhood for the Fallen is a national, |

| 6 | 7 | | not-for-profit organization of police officers who are dedicated to |

| 7 | 8 | | honoring the memories of their colleagues who have been killed in |

| 8 | 9 | | the line of duty; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 2010, the Brotherhood for the Fallen |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | consists of chapters in New York, Colorado, Massachusetts, South |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Carolina, and Texas, including Dallas and Fort Worth, and its |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | members are committed to ensuring that peace officers are laid to |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | rest with the highest degree of dignity and that their grieving |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | families are provided with emotional and financial support; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, As a demonstration of respect and solidarity, these |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | chapters send members in full dress uniform to be present at the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | funerals of fallen officers in cities around the country; to carry |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | out its important mission, the organization raises funds through |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | membership dues and benefit events, such as the 9/11 Heroes Gala, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | which was recently hosted by the Fort Worth chapter; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Texans owe an immeasurable debt of gratitude to the |

| 22 | 23 | | members of the law enforcement profession who bear the burden of |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | safeguarding our communities, and the Brotherhood for the Fallen is |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | performing an invaluable service through its efforts to commemorate |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | those heroic men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice; |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor the Brotherhood for |

| 29 | 30 | | the Fallen and extend to its members sincere appreciation for their |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | vital contributions to the organization; and, be it further |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
