| 8 | 9 | | Nuclear Energy eXperimental Testing Research Alliance, a |

| 9 | 10 | | consortium that is being led by ACU in partnership with The |

| 10 | 11 | | University of Texas, Texas A&M University, and the Georgia |

| 11 | 12 | | Institute of Technology; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Natura Resources, ACU, and NEXTRA have proposed the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | construction of a molten salt research reactor to be located at ACU; |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The establishment of a molten salt research reactor |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | represents the first step in the research, development, and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | deployment of such reactors, which have the potential to safely |

| 18 | 19 | | provide not only reliable electricity free of carbon emissions but |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | also medical-quality isotopes for the treatment of cancer; |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | moreover, the reactors have the ability to transform nonpotable |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | water into drinking water; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Texas continues to be a driving force in all forms of |

| 23 | 24 | | energy production, not only in the United States but throughout the |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | world, and efforts such as the molten salt research reactor project |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | will further the Lone Star State's record of energy leadership; |

| 26 | 27 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Natura |

| 29 | 30 | | Resources, LLC, Abilene Christian University, and NEXTRA for their |

| 30 | 31 | | work on the proposed molten salt research reactor at Abilene |

| 31 | 32 | | Christian University and extend to these institutions sincere best |
