| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The citizens of Center lost an admired community |

| 6 | 7 | | leader with the passing of Rick Lane Campbell on July 19, 2021, at |
|---|
| 7 | 8 | | the age of 62; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of James and Mona Campbell, Rick Campbell |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | was born on April 5, 1959, in Center, where he grew up with two |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | sisters, Angela and Jamie; he graduated from Center High School |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | with the Class of 1977 and continued his education at Tyler Junior |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | College and The University of Texas; he went on to enjoy a |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | successful career as co-owner of the Center Livestock Company and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | as the founder of Portacool; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to his fellow citizens, Mr. Campbell |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | served as a county judge for Shelby County and as a volunteer |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | firefighter in Center; he also donated to numerous charities, and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | he was involved with such worthy organizations as the Shelby County |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Chamber of Commerce, the Center Rotary Club, and the Houston |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Livestock Show and Rodeo, among many others; in recognition of his |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | contributions, he received an Alumni of the Year award from Tyler |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Junior College and a Conservation Service Award from Ducks |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Unlimited; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Valuing his family above all else, Mr. Campbell was |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | devoted to his wife, Katrina, and he took great pride in his |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | children, Brooke and Ashton, and his stepchildren, Emily, Ellie, |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Dean, and Dane; with the passing years, he had the privilege of |

| 28 | 29 | | becoming "Papaw" to his two grandchildren, Vivienne and Evangeline; |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Campbell enjoyed playing |

| 31 | 32 | | golf and hunting; moreover, he was a valued member of First Baptist |

| 32 | 33 | | Church of Center; and |

| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, While the death of Rick Campbell brings great |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | sadness to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that |

| 35 | 36 | | will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, |

| 36 | 37 | | therefore, be it |

| 37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 38 | 39 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |

| 39 | 40 | | Rick Lane Campbell and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn |
