5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |

6 | 7 | | of Arcadio Jesus Salinas Jr. of Rio Grande City, who passed away on |

7 | 8 | | January 5, 2021, at the age of 70; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Aurora and Arcadio Salinas Sr., Arcadio |
---|
9 | 10 | | Salinas was born on November 6, 1950, in Rio Grande City, and he |
---|
10 | 11 | | grew up with the companionship of a brother, Constancio, and a |
---|
11 | 12 | | sister, Lucia; answering his nation's call to duty, he proudly |
---|
12 | 13 | | served in the United States Army for more than 25 years, with |
---|
13 | 14 | | assignments in such places as Korea and Germany; he retired from the |
---|
14 | 15 | | military in 1993 at the rank of sergeant first class; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Salinas attended Pan American University, where |
---|
16 | 17 | | he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees; he taught math |
---|
17 | 18 | | at Grulla Middle School for many years and went on to become an |
---|
18 | 19 | | at-risk coordinator and director of maintenance for the Rio Grande |
---|
19 | 20 | | City Consolidated Independent School District; active in his |
---|
20 | 21 | | community, he served on the boards of Starr County Memorial |
---|
21 | 22 | | Hospital and Starr County Teachers Federal Credit Union; in |
---|
22 | 23 | | addition, he was passionate about farming, and he grew calabazas |
---|
23 | 24 | | mexicanas for over 60 years; and |
---|
24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Salinas benefited from the |
---|
25 | 26 | | love and support of his wife, Ruth, with whom he shared a rewarding |
---|
26 | 27 | | union that spanned more than four and a half decades; he took great |
---|
27 | 28 | | pride in their two children, Arcadio and Melissa, and with the |
---|
28 | 29 | | passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to |
---|
29 | 30 | | include five grandchildren, Omar, Arcadio, Luis, Jorge, and |
---|
30 | 31 | | Christa; and |
---|
31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Arcadio Salinas was a brave soldier, a caring |
---|
32 | 33 | | husband and father, and an engaged member of his community, and the |
---|
33 | 34 | | contributions he made in each of these roles will long inspire those |
---|
34 | 35 | | who were fortunate enough to know him; now, therefore, be it |
---|
35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
---|
36 | 37 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |

37 | 38 | | Arcadio Jesus Salinas Jr. and extend sincere condolences to all who |

38 | 39 | | mourn his passing; and, be it further |

39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
