45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
67 of Arcadio Jesus Salinas Jr. of Rio Grande City, who passed away on
78 January 5, 2021, at the age of 70; and
89 WHEREAS, The son of Aurora and Arcadio Salinas Sr., Arcadio
910 Salinas was born on November 6, 1950, in Rio Grande City, and he
1011 grew up with the companionship of a brother, Constancio, and a
1112 sister, Lucia; answering his nation's call to duty, he proudly
1213 served in the United States Army for more than 25 years, with
1314 assignments in such places as Korea and Germany; he retired from the
1415 military in 1993 at the rank of sergeant first class; and
1516 WHEREAS, Mr. Salinas attended Pan American University, where
1617 he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees; he taught math
1718 at Grulla Middle School for many years and went on to become an
1819 at-risk coordinator and director of maintenance for the Rio Grande
1920 City Consolidated Independent School District; active in his
2021 community, he served on the boards of Starr County Memorial
2122 Hospital and Starr County Teachers Federal Credit Union; in
2223 addition, he was passionate about farming, and he grew calabazas
2324 mexicanas for over 60 years; and
2425 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Salinas benefited from the
2526 love and support of his wife, Ruth, with whom he shared a rewarding
2627 union that spanned more than four and a half decades; he took great
2728 pride in their two children, Arcadio and Melissa, and with the
2829 passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to
2930 include five grandchildren, Omar, Arcadio, Luis, Jorge, and
3031 Christa; and
3132 WHEREAS, Arcadio Salinas was a brave soldier, a caring
3233 husband and father, and an engaged member of his community, and the
3334 contributions he made in each of these roles will long inspire those
3435 who were fortunate enough to know him; now, therefore, be it
3536 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3637 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
3738 Arcadio Jesus Salinas Jr. and extend sincere condolences to all who
3839 mourn his passing; and, be it further
3940 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4041 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4142 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Arcadio
4243 Salinas.
