45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Elva Yolanda Morado is retiring from the Texas A&M
67 AgriLife Extension Service on August 31, 2021, drawing to a close an
78 exemplary career with the agency that has spanned more than four and
89 a half decades; and
910 WHEREAS, Ms. Morado first joined Texas A&M AgriLife
1011 Extension in 1974, and she served as a Family and Consumer Sciences
1112 program leader at offices in Duval, Jim Hogg, Zapata, and McMullen
1213 Counties; during that time, she also held the role of county
1314 extension agent at-large in McMullen County; in 1976, she
1415 transferred to the Starr County office, where she currently works
1516 as an FCS program leader, county administrator, and county
1617 extension agent; and
1718 WHEREAS, Over the course of her tenure with the agency,
1819 Ms. Morado has been active with numerous groups and committees at
1920 the district, state, and national levels; her contributions have
2021 included chairing the South Texas Regional Cholera Task Force,
2122 participating in the Governor's Conference on Volunteerism, and
2223 serving on the National 4-H Council Hispanic Advisory Committee;
2324 she has further distinguished herself through her involvement in
2425 multiple grant writing and review teams, as well as a number of
2526 professional and civic organizations; and
2627 WHEREAS, Among her many accolades, Ms. Morado has received a
2728 State Distinguished Achievement Award from the Texas Extension
2829 Specialists Association, a Humanitarian Award from the McAllen
2930 Rotary Club, and a 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award; in addition,
3031 she was named a Texas A&M University System Regents Fellow in 2009;
3132 she holds a bachelor's degree from Texas A&I University in
3233 Kingsville; and
3334 WHEREAS, Through her dedication, expertise, and commitment
3435 to excellence, Elva Morado has greatly benefited her fellow Texans
3536 and earned the lasting respect and admiration of her colleagues,
3637 and she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as she
3738 embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be
3839 it
3940 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
4041 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Elva Yolanda
4142 Morado on her retirement from the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension
4243 Service and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and,
4344 be it further
4445 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4546 prepared for Ms. Morado as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4647 House of Representatives.
