| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot fully express the sorrow felt at the |

| 6 | 7 | | tragic loss of Ethan Joe Langley of Jacksboro, who passed away on |

| 7 | 8 | | June 23, 2021, at the age of 17; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ethan Langley was born in Weatherford on |

| 9 | 10 | | September 5, 2003; his beloved family included his parents, Jessica |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | and Todd Besselaar, his father, Nic Langley, and his siblings, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Kyler, Kaylynn, Shelby, Priscilla, Hadley, and Kolyn, and he was |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | further blessed with the affection of many other relatives and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | friends; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Langley was a student at Jacksboro High School, |

| 15 | 16 | | where he became the first male cheerleader in the school's history; |

| 16 | 17 | | with the other members of his squad, he shared in the excitement of |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | winning the 2020 UIL Spirit State Championship and of placing as |

| 18 | 19 | | runner-ups for the 2021 championship; he had recently attended the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Universal Cheerleaders Association Cheer Camp in Lubbock, where he |

| 20 | 21 | | and his team earned a host of group and individual accolades; he |

| 21 | 22 | | also had the distinction of being selected as an All-American |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Cheerleader and being a UCA staff invitation recipient; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In addition to his outstanding cheering career, |

| 24 | 25 | | Mr. Langley was also actively involved in his campus's Family, |

| 25 | 26 | | Career and Community Leaders of America organization; he was the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | vice president of membership for the 2020-2021 school year and had |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | been elected again for that position for the following year; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, An outgoing young man with a contagious smile, |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Mr. Langley had a profound impact on the lives of those around him; |

| 30 | 31 | | he effortlessly endeared himself to everyone he met with his charm, |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | kindness, and selflessness, and his presence made every occasion |

| 32 | 33 | | all the more special; and |

| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Although Ethan Langley's time on this earth was far |

| 34 | 35 | | too brief, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of the |

| 35 | 36 | | countless people who loved and cherished him; now, therefore, be it |

| 36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
