5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |

6 | 7 | | passing of Peggy Ferguson of Dumas on August 23, 2021, at the age of |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Elvie and Myrtle Blackshear, the |

9 | 10 | | former Peggy Blackshear was born in Lockney on December 17, 1938; |
---|
10 | 11 | | she grew up in Dumas in a large family that included her 14 |
---|
11 | 12 | | siblings, Dorothy, Billie, Royce, Perry, R. L., Horace, Junior, |
---|
12 | 13 | | Ina, Trummie, A. W., Robert, Jack, Dub, and Farris; and |
---|
13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Ferguson enjoyed the love |
---|
14 | 15 | | and support of her husband, Tom, with whom she shared a rewarding |
---|
15 | 16 | | marriage that spanned four decades; she took great pride in her five |
---|
16 | 17 | | children, Bud, Kim, Jaimie, Daniel, and Aimie, and with the passing |

17 | 18 | | years, she had the pleasure of welcoming into her family 13 |

18 | 19 | | grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and |

19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Ferguson worked alongside her husband at Ad Rem |

20 | 21 | | Land Company, and she helped ensure that the business demonstrated |

21 | 22 | | the highest standards of ethics and service; deeply dedicated to |

22 | 23 | | her community, she volunteered with Court Appointed Special |

23 | 24 | | Advocates and served on the Moore County Appraisal Review Board; |

24 | 25 | | moreover, she gave generously of her time to the Dumas Noon Lions |
---|
25 | 26 | | Club for 27 years, and she held the distinction of becoming the |
---|
26 | 27 | | organization's first female president; among her many |
---|
27 | 28 | | achievements, she was honored with the CASA Volunteer of the Year |
---|
28 | 29 | | award, and she won the prize for Best Cobbler in the 2007 Best Pie in |
---|
29 | 30 | | the West contest; and |

30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Gifted with a rich alto singing voice, Mrs. Ferguson |

31 | 32 | | was fond of music, especially gospel hymns and classic country |
---|
32 | 33 | | tunes; she was also an avid fan of Texas Tech football and the |

33 | 34 | | Dallas Cowboys; in her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling, and she |

34 | 35 | | delighted in holiday celebrations and family gatherings; and |

35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Possessed of a warm and generous nature, a keen |

36 | 37 | | sense of humor, and a joyous zest for life, Peggy Ferguson |

37 | 38 | | brightened the world for all who knew her, and they will forever |

38 | 39 | | hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |

39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
