45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
67 passing of Peggy Ferguson of Dumas on August 23, 2021, at the age of
78 82; and
89 WHEREAS, The daughter of Elvie and Myrtle Blackshear, the
910 former Peggy Blackshear was born in Lockney on December 17, 1938;
1011 she grew up in Dumas in a large family that included her 14
1112 siblings, Dorothy, Billie, Royce, Perry, R. L., Horace, Junior,
1213 Ina, Trummie, A. W., Robert, Jack, Dub, and Farris; and
1314 WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Ferguson enjoyed the love
1415 and support of her husband, Tom, with whom she shared a rewarding
1516 marriage that spanned four decades; she took great pride in her five
1617 children, Bud, Kim, Jaimie, Daniel, and Aimie, and with the passing
1718 years, she had the pleasure of welcoming into her family 13
1819 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and
1920 WHEREAS, Mrs. Ferguson worked alongside her husband at Ad Rem
2021 Land Company, and she helped ensure that the business demonstrated
2122 the highest standards of ethics and service; deeply dedicated to
2223 her community, she volunteered with Court Appointed Special
2324 Advocates and served on the Moore County Appraisal Review Board;
2425 moreover, she gave generously of her time to the Dumas Noon Lions
2526 Club for 27 years, and she held the distinction of becoming the
2627 organization's first female president; among her many
2728 achievements, she was honored with the CASA Volunteer of the Year
2829 award, and she won the prize for Best Cobbler in the 2007 Best Pie in
2930 the West contest; and
3031 WHEREAS, Gifted with a rich alto singing voice, Mrs. Ferguson
3132 was fond of music, especially gospel hymns and classic country
3233 tunes; she was also an avid fan of Texas Tech football and the
3334 Dallas Cowboys; in her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling, and she
3435 delighted in holiday celebrations and family gatherings; and
3536 WHEREAS, Possessed of a warm and generous nature, a keen
3637 sense of humor, and a joyous zest for life, Peggy Ferguson
3738 brightened the world for all who knew her, and they will forever
3839 hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
3940 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
4041 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
4142 of Peggy Ferguson and extend sincere condolences to the members of
4243 her family: to her husband, Tom Ferguson; to her siblings, Dorothy
4344 Sipes, Billie Payne, Royce Blackshear, and Perry Blackshear; to her
4445 children, Bud Martin and his wife, Brenda, Kim Yearwood and her
4546 husband, Mark, Jaimie Wilson and her husband, Matt, Daniel Ferguson
4647 and his wife, Jennifer, and Aimie Ingersoll and her husband, Chad;
4748 to her grandchildren, Damon, Tyler, Chelsea, Brad, Arila Nichole,
4849 Jake, Emily, Troy, Benjamin, Christian, Jayci, Jaz, and Lando; to
4950 her great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends;
5051 and, be it further
5152 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5253 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
5354 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Peggy
5455 Ferguson.
