7 | 7 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Article VI, Texas Constitution, is amended by | |
9 | 9 | adding Section 1a to read as follows: | |
10 | 10 | Sec. 1a. The legislature by general law may provide for | |
11 | 11 | voting in a primary election by a person who: | |
12 | 12 | (1) will be 18 years of age or older on the date of the | |
13 | 13 | subsequent general election for state and county officers; and | |
14 | 14 | (2) satisfies the other applicable requirements for | |
15 | 15 | eligibility to vote. | |
16 | 16 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
17 | 17 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 2021. | |
18 | 18 | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | |
19 | 19 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing a person | |
20 | 20 | who will be 18 years of age or older on the date of the general | |
21 | 21 | election for state and county officers to vote in the preceding | |
22 | 22 | primary election." |
