| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Conner Harrington Republican Women |

| 3 | 3 | | of Plano have played an active role in their community and beyond |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Organized in the home of Gladys Harrington in |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | 1971, this group of concerned citizens had 16 original members, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | united by a vision of small government and individual liberty and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | responsibility; the club was named for the late Conner |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Harrington, who served as mayor of Plano and as a member of the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | State Republican Executive Committee; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The Conner Harrington Republican Women began |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | holding night meetings to allow working mothers to attend, and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | they conducted all business in an open format to ensure that |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | everyone could participate; the club has received awards from the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | National and Texas Federations of Republican Women, and its |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | members have gone on to win elected office and serve at the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | highest levels in the state federation and in the Republican |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Party of Texas; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Under the leadership of current president Janet |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Stovall, members of the Conner Harrington Republican Women are |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | making a lasting difference through their grassroots political |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | activism, and they may take justifiable pride in their rich |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | history of civic engagement and their reputation for vitality, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | congeniality, and camaraderie; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 50th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | anniversary of the founding of the Conner Harrington Republican |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Women and extend to its members sincere best wishes for the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | future; and, be it further |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
