5	5	WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
6	6	meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and
7	7	friends of Gus Leo Wolf of Big Sandy, who passed away on April 7,
8	8	2020, at the age of 68; and
9	9	WHEREAS, Gus Wolf was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands,
10	10	in 1951; his family immigrated to the United States in 1956 and
11	11	eventually settled in Dunellen, New Jersey, where he graduated
12	12	from high school in 1969; he went on to earn a business degree
13	13	from Union County College, and he became a member of American
14	14	Mensa; and
15	15	WHEREAS, In 1975, Mr. Wolf exchanged wedding vows with
16	16	Joanne Sweeney, and the couple shared a rewarding marriage that
17	17	spanned nearly four and a half decades; they were blessed with 4
18	18	children, Spencer, Taylor, Graeme, and Hayden, all of whom they
19	19	homeschooled, and they later welcomed 12 grandchildren into
20	20	their family; and
21	21	WHEREAS, Over the course of a successful career, Mr. Wolf
22	22	served as a production manager and supervisor, a systems analyst,
23	23	and a materials and office manager for a number of companies,
24	24	including Simmonds Precision Products, the Lockheed Corporation,
25	25	Foremost Manufacturing, Frigidaire, and Kaufman Stairs;
26	26	additionally, he did voice-overs and radio spots for WFME in New
27	27	York and for Family Stations, Inc.; in 2007, he and his family
28	28	relocated to Big Sandy in East Texas, where he worked in outside
29	29	sales in the health insurance field with such entities as Aflac,
30	30	Lincoln Heritage, and United Healthcare; and
31	31	WHEREAS, More recently, Mr. Wolf and his wife had
32	32	established Piney Creek Farm, providing organically grown
33	33	produce to East Texas restaurants and health food stores;
34	34	Mr. Wolf was also an avid beekeeper, and he led the East Texas
35	35	Beekeepers Association and the Longview Beekeeper's Association
36	36	as president; in addition, he was heavily involved with the
37	37	International ALERT Academy in Big Sandy, and he participated in
38	38	numerous events and conferences; and
39	39	WHEREAS, A man of strong faith, Mr. Wolf regularly spoke
40	40	from the pulpit at both the Brookwood Bible Chapel in Longview
41	41	and the Golden Bible Chapel; he was engaged in Bible Study
42	42	Fellowship and served as a children's leader and as the assistant
43	43	teaching leader for the men's class in Longview; and
44	44	WHEREAS, Admired for his wisdom, his kind and generous
45	45	nature, and his sharp wit, Gus Wolf brightened the world for all
46	46	who knew him, and they will forever hold him close in their
47	47	hearts; now, therefore, be it
48	48	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
49	49	Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life
50	50	of Gus Leo Wolf and extend deepest condolences to the members of
51	51	his family: to his wife, Joanne; to his sons, Spencer and Graeme;
52	52	to his daughters, Taylor and Hayden; to his sister, Inge; to his
53	53	grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it
54	54	further
55	55	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
56	56	prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
57	57	this day, it do so in memory of Gus Wolf.
