5		-	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas mourns the loss of

	6	+	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas mourns the loss
	7	+	of Jose Nieto Robledo, who died August 7, 2021, at the age of 86;
	8	+	and
7	9		WHEREAS, A native of Webberville, Jose Robledo was born on
8	10		March 19, 1935; he was raised in Edinburg, and he left school
9	11		early to help support his family by working as a farmer and
10	12		migrant laborer; and
11	13		WHEREAS, Jose married Consuelo Alfaro Robledo in 1955, and
12	14		together they raised 13 children by loving and hard-working
13	15		example; he was blessed with 30 grandchildren and five
14	16		great-grandchildren; and
15	17		WHEREAS, Jose worked in a number of jobs and earned his
16	18		General Educational Development certificate while attending
17	19		night school; he enjoyed a career as the buildings and grounds
18	20		superintendent for the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School
19	21		District, where he oversaw maintenance work at 36 district
20	22		campuses; and
21	23		WHEREAS, A devoted community steward, Jose was an active
22	24		congregant of the Holy Family Church in Edinburg, where he served
23	25		in several leadership positions; through his work with the church
24	26		and the Valley Interfaith Organization, he traveled to Austin
25	27		during legislative sessions to organize meetings with
26	28		legislators, educate the public on issues facing the families of
27	29		the Rio Grande Valley, and rally support for the region; he also
28	30		volunteered to minister to the youth at the Hidalgo County
29	31		Detention Center for 12 years; and
30	32		WHEREAS, Jose Robledo was a true Texas gentleman and a
31	33		tireless servant of the Edinburg community; he leaves behind
32	34		memories that will long be cherished by all who were privileged
33	35		to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
34	36		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
35	37		Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
36	38		condolences to the bereaved family of Jose Nieto Robledo; and, be
37	39		it further
38	40		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
39	41		his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
40	42		Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
41	43		memory of Jose Robledo.
