5- WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas mourns the loss of
6- Jose Nieto Robledo, who died August 7, 2021, at the age of 86; and

5+ SENATE RESOLUTION
6+ WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas mourns the loss
7+ of Jose Nieto Robledo, who died August 7, 2021, at the age of 86;
8+ and
79 WHEREAS, A native of Webberville, Jose Robledo was born on
810 March 19, 1935; he was raised in Edinburg, and he left school
911 early to help support his family by working as a farmer and
1012 migrant laborer; and
1113 WHEREAS, Jose married Consuelo Alfaro Robledo in 1955, and
1214 together they raised 13 children by loving and hard-working
1315 example; he was blessed with 30 grandchildren and five
1416 great-grandchildren; and
1517 WHEREAS, Jose worked in a number of jobs and earned his
1618 General Educational Development certificate while attending
1719 night school; he enjoyed a career as the buildings and grounds
1820 superintendent for the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School
1921 District, where he oversaw maintenance work at 36 district
2022 campuses; and
2123 WHEREAS, A devoted community steward, Jose was an active
2224 congregant of the Holy Family Church in Edinburg, where he served
2325 in several leadership positions; through his work with the church
2426 and the Valley Interfaith Organization, he traveled to Austin
2527 during legislative sessions to organize meetings with
2628 legislators, educate the public on issues facing the families of
2729 the Rio Grande Valley, and rally support for the region; he also
2830 volunteered to minister to the youth at the Hidalgo County
2931 Detention Center for 12 years; and
3032 WHEREAS, Jose Robledo was a true Texas gentleman and a
3133 tireless servant of the Edinburg community; he leaves behind
3234 memories that will long be cherished by all who were privileged
3335 to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
3436 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
3537 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
3638 condolences to the bereaved family of Jose Nieto Robledo; and, be
3739 it further
3840 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3941 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
4042 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
4143 memory of Jose Robledo.
