| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Nicole Barrett was born on April 6, 1975, in |

| 9 | 10 | | Dallas to Linda Barrett and the late Lee Vernon Bryant Jr.; as a |

| 10 | 11 | | child, she demonstrated great talent as a communicator, a skill |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | that was to serve her well in her professional life; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, She was crowned Ms. Junior Texas at the age of 15 |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and went on to win numerous other pageants, such as Ms. Black |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Texas in 2002; while attending North Mesquite High School, she |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | developed a love for theater and received a scholarship for |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | acting from the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico, where she |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | starred in numerous productions; she later served on the board of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | the Dallas Theatre Guild; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, She worked for a time as a reporter for Elite News |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | before hosting "The Nicole Barrett Show," a successful radio |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | program that was highly ranked in the Dallas-Fort Worth market; |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | she also hosted numerous charity events, including several that |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | were held to promote organ donations; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, A woman of grace, charm, and deep faith, she gave |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | unselfishly to others, and she will long be remembered for her |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | many achievements and her enthusiasm for living each day to the |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | fullest; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, She was devoted to her family, and she leaves |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | behind memories that will be treasured forever by all who were |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |

| 32 | 33 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere |

| 33 | 34 | | condolences to the bereaved family of Nicole Barrett; and, be it |
